Welcoming a New Chapter

The saying "Maturity comes with experience" speaks truth as memories start to become indelible, and the knowledge we accumulate from past experiences help us develop into the individuals we are today. As students, mistakes are inevitable as we face obstacles on a daily basis to achieve career-related goals. I, myself, have made my fair share of mistakes.

Laying in bed at 1:43 AM staring at the dark ceiling before me and having "I should have done-" or "If I only knew-" thoughts are overwhemingly familiar. It's sometimes difficult to fathom that the fate of your future strictly depends on how well you can overcome the next few obstacles.

Perspectives and priorities also change as maturity makes its mark. Things that used to make us cry and worry might not seem so important anymore. Even things that used to make us laugh and brought us so much joy, might not have the same effects on this new persona that we've come to accept as who we are.

Now that I am in my 20s, I have come to realize that vanity means nothing since the only things that should matter are ; how you perceive yourself and if you are content with the person you have become, health,  and unconditional love from those who have supported you and made a huge impact in your life for the better.

Unconditional love is an interesting topic since so many individuals crave and would kill for sincere, genuine affection. I am lucky to have this support as it helps me strengthen the faith I have in myself while I am about to welcome a new chapter into my life. As another page is turned, unconditional love will help fuel the drive in me to complete what I have started.

By taking everything I have leaned in the past, all the "could've", "should've", "would've" thoughts are still going to be with me, as knowledge continues to accumulate and my wisdom grows parallel to it. The past can only be a reference to new choices in the future as I continue to write my story.

Winter Favourites of 2014

Hello everyone!

It's been a whille since I've done a favourites and during these past few months, I have been loving a number of products that I would like to share with you all. Most of the products that I will be mentioning are catered to dry skin and hair. I don't normally have dry skin/hair but since it is now closer to winter time, the weather has become a lot colder so I have been loving products that give a boost of moisture.

The first product I have been loving is the Johnson's 2-in-1 Extra Moisturizing shampoo & conditioner. I have mentioned this shampoo before in a prevous favourites post and it's back here again because of how amazing it is. Some of you might find it's weird that a 20 year old is using baby shampoo, but I promise you the results are incredible. I find that it gives my hair more life to it after being damaged by the cold winter air. It makes my hair shiny, soft and you're not putting a lot of unknown chemicals onto your scalp because it is a shampoo catered towards infants and children.

After shampooing, if I want to take an extra step to moisturize my hair even further, I'll use the l'Oreal Total Repair Replenishing mask. This gives the hair even more moisture and leaves the hair very sleek. I like to apply a small amount to the bottom half of my hair once or twice a week. I wouldn't reccomend applying this everyday. This was inexpensive as well..I believe I purchased the entire tub for $3.99 or something ridiculous like that.

As for my body, I've been loving a few products: The Olay Luscious Embrace body lotion with jojoba butter and crushed orchid extract, the Rituals Shanti Chakra Indian Rose & Sweet Almond Nourishing Body Oil and the Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Buttercream. These smell SO GOOD. I find certain scents comforting and help me fall asleep at night and  these definitely do the trick. They're all calming, soothing and contain properties that are beneficial to the skin. I can also see myself using the Soap & Glory Body Buttercream during the spring and summer because it is such a versatile scent and the subtle lime scent is perfect for the upcoming months.

The only "cosmetic" favourite I have is the Revlon nail polish in Copper Penny. It's the perfect copper/gold for the holidays and the application is fantastic. I find that just 1 coat is opaque enough, however it is a buildable polish so 2 coats make the colour even more vibrant and rich.

So those are my winter favourites! I can't believe it's already 2015. Let me know in the comments below which products you guys love and which ones I should try out :).

Until next time,

Love,
Kristie

COVER GIRL Ready Set Gorgeous | Review

Hello everyone!

Today I'm going to do a review on a foundation I've been testing out for the past couple months. From the title you can already guess that this review is going to be on the COVER GIRL Ready Set Gorgeous Liquid foundation. I got this foundation at my local target for $6.99 in the colour 105. The first thing I noticed when purhasing this foundation is that it has the same amount of product as the COVER GIRL 3 in 1 Stay Fabulous Liquid Foundation (One of my absolute favourites). Being significantly less expensive than the 3 in 1 Stay Fabulous foundation I was excited to try it out.

PACKAGING:
The packaging of this foundation is great because it is in a squeeze tube, which makes it a lot more hygienic. This also makes it a lot easier to squeeze out the exact amount of product you would like to use, therefore significantly decreasing the amount of wasted product.

PRODUCT:
The foundation itself has a very liquidity consistency and feels very light on the skin. I like to apply this wih my fingers or damp beauty sponge. It sets quickly and gives a light coverage. It can however, build up to a medium coverage without looking cakey. This foundation is great for people who want something to just even out their complexion and conceal minor blemishes. This product is also great for oily skin because It's oil free, dries matte and leaves such a soft finish.  But if you're one to have your oils seep through throughout the day then of course pair this foundation with a primer and powder. I would say this is the best natural, "my skin but better" drugstore foundation I have ever tried. It also does not transfer onto clothing which is always a plus.

All in all, this is the perfect every day foundation and I would reccomend this product to somebody who wants something super low maintenance and natural. It is also the perfect foundation for people who are new to makeup!

The only disappointing thing about this foundation is that the inside of the cap can get quite messy from the foundation if you're not careful. The best way to prevent this from happening is just to simply wipe off the excess foundation surrounding the tip of the tube after each use.

Hopefully this review helped you guys decide if you want to buy this foundation or not!

Until next time,

Love,
Kristie

Life Update

Hi guys!

I'm sorry..I SUCK at blogging. I know I was supposed to post a "July favourites" but that is definitely now overdue. So instead I'll just update you guys on what has been happening with me and I'll let you in on some ideas I have for future posts :).

Since my last post, a lot has been going on in my life. The most exciting thing however, is that I got my braces off! I had my braces on for 4.5 years (So long! They became a part of my identity LOL.) So it was very exciting for me to FINALLY get them off. Once I had gotten them off, I realized I had forgotten what my teeth felt like, so for the first couple hours I kept feeling my teeth with my tongue..it felt odd that I didn't have brackets there anymore! For those of you who have gotten their braces off after a significant amount of time, let me know in the comments below if feeling your own teeth for the first time in a long time was weird too! Hopefully it's not just me. :S Here is the last picture I took with braces, and the first picture I took without my braces. If you guys have any questions regarding braces, don't hesitate to ask them in the comments either, I'll answer the best I can with knowledge from my experience.
I have also been working a lot in the last several weeks. I decided to work as much as I could before school started because we all know that "student life = broke life". Obviously now that school has resumed for me, I am not working as much, therefore leaving me with more time to tend towards my blog :). Speaking of this blog..I do have a few ideas in mind that I would wanna post about. First off, because my "July favourites" is crazy late, I was thinking of doing a "current favourites" instead. I also wanted to do a photoshoot of some of my favourite outfits for the back to school/autumn season. If you guys didn't know, autumn is one of my FAVOURITE seasons because I'm really sensitive to the cold, the idea of being able to layer clothes, wear chunky knit sweaters, scarves and touques sounds amazing to me. I have also recently bought the new COVER GIRL Ready, Set Gorgeous liquid foundation so if you guys want a review on that, let me know as well!

And that's about it.

Let me know what else you guys would want to see in the future!

Until next time

Love,
Kristie
